As a young teen I started drinking and smoking pot. I graduated high school in 1989 and was a full blown alcoholic. I met my wife (Cathy Baker Drew) in July 1988 and married her June 2, 1990. In 1996 I was introduced to crystal meth which was a drug that ruled me completely. I took my wife to hell and back, but because of her faith in God and the seed she planted with faith I found help.

May 28, 2005 I went to John 3:16 Ministries, the best decision I could have made at the time and well worth the 6 months I spent at the spiritual boot camp finding guidance to become FREE of my addictions. You see, I don’t have to go to meetings and introduce myself as a recovering alcoholic or drug addict finding help through a 12 step program. I found complete healing through the 1 step program at John 3:16 Ministries. God not only restored my life but he restored my family. My wife and my two sons Corey and Jon are now reaping the benefits of the restoration power God holds and offers to everyone.

I praise God for giving everyone at the spiritual boot camp the ambition and dedication to keep John 3:16 Ministries alive and through God’s mercy healing lives daily. The entire ministry is a bright beacon in our community that shines and is making a difference one man at a time.

Cathy Drew

I am Jeff’s wife Cathy and we have been married since June 2, 1990. Our marriage has been a very rocky one but I have always believed there was a chance for us to survive but only through God’s grace. Through our marriage we went through various stages with Jeff’s addictions. He went from one crutch to another as if he was looking for something to help him achieve happiness. The addictions increased and only drove him deeper into a self destructive pattern that not only was destroying him, but it was also destroying his entire family. July 19, 1993 we were blessed with a son Jon whom I truly believe God sent to help guide Jeff to a better life. But as Jon grew, Jeff’s addictions grew. Jon loves his dad and always wanted to pray and see him become the father we all knew he could be. By the height of Jeff’s addictions I had almost given up. I was at my wits’ end and my son and I were talking and I told Jon that I didn’t know if Jeff would ever get past his addiction. Jon spoke up and said, “Don’t worry Mom, God will fix things and Dad will make it.” It broke my heart but at the same time helped me realize we all need the faith of a child to get through situations like this, so I continued to believe and waited for the time to come for Jeff to find his way to a real addiction-free life.

Finally in May 2005, Jeff had basically hit rock bottom. He had no friends left, and I had told him he couldn’t stay at our home until he showed me that he was really ready to change and leave his addictions behind. His family had come to a point that they stepped back and told him he needed to make a decision to get help. Jeff began calling John 3:16 Ministries. He was a little skeptical about the place being a religious based camp but at this point he knew he had to do something. After many calls and visits to the ministry, Bryan Tuggle offered Jeff a bed and on May 28 we took Jeff there and at an event that night he and my son Jon were saved and that was the beginning of the healing process for our family.

Jeff stayed at the ministry for 6 months and graduated in November of that same year. As time went by we could not only tell a difference with Jeff’s attitude, we could actually see a physical change. He finally had a smile and his face had a vibrant healthy color that seemed to glow. God was working on Jeff not only spiritually but physically. He was a new creation.

The big thing when Jeff came home from the ministry was adjusting to life away from the safe boundaries of John 3:16. There have been a few battles and tests but as long as we all keep our focus on God, there are no obstacles too large to overcome. Jeff has said the key to making it is to make good choices, but if you make a bad choice, pick yourself up and turn to God for guidance and learn from those mistakes.

Remember, it is possible to overcome addictions. God has made the ultimate sacrifice with His Son Jesus Christ that we might have real life and through Him we can overcome anything put before us. So never give up, keep praying and be still and watch God work in your life.
