Meet James Ashley,
Unity House Leader

Hello, my name is James Ashley. I am 40 years old, from Charlotte, Arkansas. Now that Jesus is Lord of my life, I have been blessed in many ways. I am currently the leader of John 3:16 Ministries Unity House, which is a halfway house for single men who have stayed at least 7 months and graduated from the ministry. They have the chance to stay up to six additional months as long as they continue to abide in Jesus. The Unity House holds up to 10 guys and allows them the opportunity to work, attend college, and save money to help make the transition into society. During the first 2 months, the men have the choice to leave on Sundays with someone accountable and find themselves a home church. They also receive the opportunity to go on a chaperoned date on either Friday or Saturday night, as long as they are back by 11pm. Upon arriving the men are able to purchase themselves a vehicle and then drive themselves to and from work.

The basis of the Unity House is to help with responsibility. With responsibility comes accountability. When the men show they can be responsible, yet accountable, they earn more privileges. On Wednesday and every other Saturday evening, we attend bible study at local churches and at supporters' houses that bring their own bible studies. After 4 months at Unity House, and of the seven people who started out, three attend college and four have full-time jobs. Of the three guys who attend college, one has recently moved out, is working part-time, and living on his own and making it. As long as the men continue to show themselves approved and remain an example for others, the Unity House is and will continue to be a success for all who follow.
